I saw Kim Cesarion perform at the RCA Music Day last week, a showcase of the label’s new talent, and was impressed by his voice and charisma. He’s a Swedish solo artist in the vein of Bruno Mars and Miguel, and his single Undressed is already doing well in Scandinavia. It has so far reached no.2 on both the Swedish and Danish iTunes charts, and the poppy Oliver Nelson remix is huge on Soundcloud. He is heading into a crowded market with several similar acts already established, so I don’t know how he’ll fare against the American heavyweights, but you certainly can’t say his sound isn’t current.
