Usually if an artist’s single is sitting at no.1, I’d say it was a bit late to feature them in Future Pop, but Cody Wise’s future success is definitely not a dead cert. However, after hearing the brilliant debut single his mentor will.i.am has produced for Leah McFall, I’m more interested in what he might do for his American teen protegée, Cody. Will and Cody have been working together for the past four years, but It's My Birthday was his first major public outing. You can hear some of his demos on Soundcloud, including tracks produced by Alex Da Kid and Busbee, but they’re pretty uninspiring. Hopefully now that he’s a no.1 artist, he might become more of a priority to Interscope.
