Song of the Week: Cloves – Frail Love

In a world where a two-year-old Birdy song (and only the acoustic version of the much better original, at that) can reach the top 10 after a small snippet of it was featured on a Lloyds advert, the future looks bright for Australian singer Kaity Dunstan, aka Cloves. The 19-year-old made an impact on the blogosphere (is that still a thing?) last month with the first track she shared online, the simple and beautiful Frail Love. The music scene certainly isn’t lacking young female singers with “quirky” voices, but what we always need more of is great songwriting. Cloves has been working on her debut album with talented Brits Justin Parker and Rich Cooper, with whom she co-wrote Frail Love, so fingers crossed there’s more like this to come.
