Bülow’s debut single Not a Love Song caught my attention when it was released last November, but with a somewhat small and cute sound, it didn’t blow me away on first listen. However, the chorus just kept bouncing back into my head, and eventually I had to admit it was pretty poptastic. The release of its music video seems like a good enough excuse to feature it here. Megan Bülow is a 17-year-old German singer, now living in the Netherlands, which makes me even more keen to support her – there aren’t enough German or Dutch pop stars around these days. She is also repping Canada, as she’s signed to Canadian label Wax Records (a former indie label, now distributed by Universal). Not A Love Song was co-written by not one but three Canadian pop stars – Alyssa Reid (who had a UK hit with Alone Again in 2011), Lowell and Nathan Ferraro of The Midway State. Last year Bülow said she was planning to move to Canada, but I suspect LA is a more likely destination, as Republic Records have taken her on for the US.
