Bitch Better Have My Money is certainly not among my favourite Rihanna singles, but songwriter Bibi Bourelly is one to watch nonetheless. The 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Berlin moved to LA a year ago, determined to make it in the music industry. She began collaborating with US producers such as Deputy and Travis Scott and her first cuts came quickly with Bitch Better Have My Money and another track from the upcoming Rihanna album, Higher. Bibi says Higher is closer to her own sound as an artist, but her tough, straight-talking attitude comes through on BBHMM. She shared a clip of her new material on Soundcloud two weeks ago, a mid-tempo acoustic track called Riot which combines raw vocals and clumsy harmonies with a well-written, emotionally performed pop chorus. Her sound and general vibe is similar to Kat Dahlia, who hasn’t done as well as I expected, but Bibi’s connections could help her get further.
