It’s rare to discover a pop act who has undergone very little artist development yet has a collection of songs that are all good enough to be played on the radio, but I did just that while reading this week’s Record of the Day magazine. 14-year-old Welsh singer-songwriter Hana Evans doesn’t have the big following on YouTube that most independent artists her age aim for, and her songs on Soundcloud only have a few thousand plays in total. She is proof that the music industry still takes notice of great talent when those online stats are missing. Hana’s songs have been played on Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music and more. The sound is a mix of Ellie Goulding and Daisy Dares You. It’s not as innovative and original as other new electro-pop artists like Ryn Weaver, but what she has accomplished without the help of Charli XCX and Benny Blanco shows big potential. I’m looking forward to seeing what's next for Hana, but hoping she puts her career in good hands.
