Getting your song onto the Radio 1 and Radio 2 playlists is like finding the holy grail, as it enables an artist to reach a very wide audience. Dan Croll has achieved this feat with his new single Home by combining bland, mumbly music with a geeky hipster look. As you can probably tell, it does nothing for me. Perhaps the BBC playlist overlords see themselves in him, as he does look like a typical music industry bloke. Regardless of whether it's deserved, his success seems inevitable. Not only is he straddling the BBC radio playlists but he's also managed by Turn First, professors in turning unlikely pop stars (Ellie Goulding, Conor Maynard) into surprise success stories.
