Wow, what a night! Last night’s This Must Be Pop Live had to be our most successful yet. The Queen of Hoxton was packed throughout the evening with fans, industry types and even the odd pop superstar! All the acts put on a great show and I got loads of nice feedback from the audience.
First on stage were our first ever all male group at This Must Be Pop Live, Rixton! They only started playing live a few months ago but already have a big following, and lots of young girls waiting to meet them after the show. They previewed a few new tracks which were sounding fantastic and had some good on-stage banter. I don’t think these guys will remain unsigned for long!
Next up was Bebe Black, who has just released what has to be the best EP of the year so far, the Deathwish EP. She performed a mix of new tracks from the EP such as Deathwish and Bones, as well as old favourites like I’ll Wait. Everyone was blown away by her voice, her songwriting talent and stage presence. It felt like the birth of a big future star.
The final act of the night was another female singer-songwriter with a great voice, Tich. She’s come a long way since she performed at the first ever This Must Be Pop Live in November 2011, and showcased some great new songs at last night’s gig. She also performed a cover of Troublemaker by Olly Murs (who she’s touring with soon), which impressively made me actually like the song!

Overall it was a great start to the year for This Must Be Pop and I think for pop in general. I reckon all three acts will achieve big things in 2013, so don’t forget where you saw them first!
Thanks to Jon Barker for the lovely photos, Luke for being funny on stage, Charlie for not stealing all my money, and of course the talented and poptastic DJ Jon.
Details of the next This Must Be Pop Live are coming soon. Watch this space and remember to follow @Poptastic to hear about all the gigs and meetups first!
An absolute gem of a night! All 3 acts deserve huge success. Hope radio picks up on the EPs!
