  1. I knew I could count on you, Jessica. I just had a discussion with Edwardo on Facebook and he described “Popular” as “extremely average and not thrilling at all.” Can you believe it? After ignoring Måns and BWO all those years, Sweden has finally sent the best song.

  2. It didn't have the same instant effect on me as Eric's other songs, but when combined with the performance on Melodifestivalen it was a truly deserved win. I hope it will do well at Eurovision but I do worry about the message not being quite right – can a song that's about trying to become more popular to attract a girl win Eurovision?

  3. I wouldn't be too worried about the lyrics. Perhaps the UK and Ireland will care, but not the rest of Europe. If Sweden voted it through, and we're the best English speaking non-English speaking (uhm, you know what I mean) country in Europe behind the Netherlands, the rest won't care either.

I'm more worried about the vocals. Will he be able to do it without the pre-recorded choirs? Especially with only six people on stage? And with that dance routine? I have doubts.

Having said that, assume he'll do the best performance ever, he still won't win. 🙁

  4. By the way – I'm voting Estonia! (Since I can't vote for my own country, obviously!) Who are you rooting for?

  5. Sweden will ignore the lyrics cos they love Eric but for other countries he will be unknown. However you're probably right that the lyrics don't matter that much when most viewers don't speak English very well. Hopefully however well the song does it will be well enough to establish Eric as a star across Europe. I don't think his style of music could succeed in the UK but with his good looks and catchy songs he could be huge in Europe. Even when he just read out the Swedish results he was a European sensation so I'm sure he will win lots of fans when he performs to all of Europe!

I haven't been paying attention to the other songs this year so I don't know who I will be supporting. I'm sure no-one will deserve my vote more than Eric though, so I can pretty safely say that if I vote for anyone it will be him.
