Well, that was a drama and a half! Last night was the final of Melodifestivalen, and it was all very unpredictable. It was exciting, but ultimately the result was exactly what I expected, and Malena Ernman will represent Sweden at Eurovision. The results in general were quite surprising, but what really made it tense for me was how close we came to a win for my favourite, Måns Zelmerlöw. The juries’ votes were announced first, and Måns quickly took the lead. He went on to retain it throughout the jury votes. He was their definite favourite, and since the last time he entered, he won the public vote but not the jury vote, I cautiously began to consider that he really might win this thing. However, moments later my hope was destroyed, as the public had only ranked him 5th! 5th?!?! It was all very upsetting, really, but after all these years of my favourite never winning MF, I was prepared for it. I just didn’t expect it to be the fault of the Swedish public!

BWO had almost 40 000 more votes than Molly Sandén in the first voting but then lost in the duel. And lost to Lilie & Susie by only 10 000 votes. They were so close! Such a shame. Anyway – Malena will probably give Sweden a place in the Eurovision final. I hope. She was my third favourite after Måns (1) and Alcazar (2) so at least we’ll loose with my dignity in tact if everything goes tits up. //Chris

Wow, that is a shame. Would have been great to have BWO in the final. Molly didn’t even do that well in the end. I don’t think the duels were a good idea at all. Good to see you liked Måns best too! I think Malena is good too, I just thought it was a shame, with so many ace pop songs this year that none of them got to go to Eurovision. After all Alcazar’s years of trying, it’s a bit sad really. They’re always so close and yet so far!

I was there! I met Mans! He was great, the whole weekend was great, the show was amazing and the tension was extreme…the best thing was hearing all of the songs in every hotel, bar, club, radio station, shopping mall all day over the 3 days I was there! Best weekend I’ve ever had I think!!!!! The newspapers were bizarre too, Caroline Af Ugglas on all of the front pages on Saturday and Malena on all of them on Sunday! The only crime was Alcazar only finishing 5th as they seemed to be the most down to earth popstars I’ve ever seen…along with Emilia! Caroline was just very odd…very amusing to watch her from the crowd running around and dancing in the stars’ seating area 😀
